Nostalgia aka one way Time Machines.

i'm sick to death of Nostalgia. i'm sick of shows like I Love the 80s, 70s, 90s, 5 weeks ago, etc. i'm sick of bands who cover up the fact that they don't have an original idea flowing through them using the excuse of "paying homage to our heroes" to mask their creative bankrupcy. i'm sick of film makers who do the same. i'm sick of the people excepting this bullshit, celebrating it while codeming those who are trying to breathe new life into this cultural fucking black hole, this senseless funk we've been in for the last 10 or so years. they say it's not as good as the original, or they brand it a weak retread before even giving a fair chance. there are plenty of good movies, bands, ideas, etc out there, and they're being styfled by zombies who have taken their childhood memories and sucked the purity out them, dousing their words in irony and cynicsm so as to never reveal their true feelings; either the stuff they are romatising is pure shit or they are to afriad to show a second of emotion, because then it would be them who are ripe for parody instead of the other way around.

i say we let sleeping dogs lie, ocasionally remember the things we love, and work on paying homage to them in a real way, by creating something that will hopefully have the same kind of impact on others lives, like they had on yours. THAT is how you pay homage to something. not by ripping it off and claiming it as your own, but by going out of your way to create something that others will look fondly upon in the future, and that will cause others to work towards realising their own dreams and ideas, and so on and so on and so on.
